It protects the epidermis, softening skin and making it more supple and flexible. GLYCOL DISTEARATE (KERALINE Long-Acting After-Care Shampoo) Is an emollient* and an emulsifier*. It also moisturizes. HAIR Hair is mainly made of keratin*. It is made of protofibrils (keratin* fibres twisted together and connected to each other) and "parallel” microfibrils. Microfibrils are inserted in an external envelope (the cuticle*), formed of keratin* scales. The keratin* is very rigid because the molecules are held together by very solid disulfide bonds. HYDROLYZED RICE PROTEIN (KERALINE Keratin Treatment) Naturally occurring, rice protein is fortifying and enhances capillaries and skin. It is naturally able to retain water. Inside the hair it expands, causing a volumizing effect that is very helpful for limp hair that is difficult to style. Its protein structure also allows it to stick to the surface of the hair, forming a protective film on the cuticle, protecting it from dehydration. Used in hair care and as a repair mask for fragile or damaged hair, it is highly recommended for fine, limp, flat, dry, dehydrated, coloured or permed hair and split ends. HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE (KERALINE Keratin Treatment) Naturally occurring, this is a gelling and thickening agent. INCI The International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) was created in 1973 by the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA). Its use has been mandatory in Europe since 1998: all cosmetics must list on their packaging all ingredients in decreasing order of quantity under their INCI name. INCI nomenclature is in two languages: · Plant extracts are listed under the plant's Latin name; · Molecule names and common names are in English. By convention, scented ingredients are listed under the term "parfum” without details. Colourants are designated by a colour index indicated by the letters "CI” and a 5-digit number. Source: Wikipedia. KERATIN (KERALINE Clarifying Shampoo, Keratin Treatment, Long-Acting After-Care Conditioner) Hair is 95% keratin (the rest is mainly fats and some colourants). SHAMPOO The word shampoo dates back to 1762, when it meant "to massage.” It is derived from the Hindi word chāmpo, which meant "to oil, massage the muscles.” The Hindi term was derived from the Sanskrit/Hindi word chāmpnā, which referred to the flowers of the plant Michelia champaca (Magnoliaceae family), traditionally used to make fragrant hair oil. Today's shampoo contains: · Cleaning agents to dissolve grease that is then carried away in the water along with the molecules or particles that it caught; · Foaming agents (which are also surfactants*); · Preservatives (increase the shelf-life of the product); · Emulsifiers (prevent having to remix shampoo, whose fat and liquid components separate naturally); · Various additives, depending on the effect desired: decalcifiers, pH stabilizers, colourants, fragrances, superfatted agents (oils), moisturizers, essential oils, detanglers, medicinal agents (anti-lice, anti-dandruff, etc.). SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL (KERALINE Long-Acting After-Care Shampoo) Of vegetable origin, jojoba oil is extracted from jojoba seeds, and is very rich in protein. Very gentle (ideal for children), it has exceptional regenerative properties. It nourishes, softens and fortifies hair. It is effective for greasy hair, acting on the excess sebum on the scalp. SPLIT ENDS Split ends are also found in prematurely aged hair. The hair is split into two strands at the ends, where the keratin* is most fragile. The only way to remove split ends is to cut them off, because they cannot be put back together. However, with proper care, split ends can be avoided to begin with. SULFUR or SULPHUR (KERALINE Long-Acting After-Care Shampoo) Sulfur exists, in humans, in the form of sulfates, in large molecules. These sulfur amino acids are abundant in skin, hair, nails and mucus, both on the surface of and inside cells. Sulfur is mainly known for helping to eliminate toxins and for cellular respiration. It is also the main component of keratin*. It is used for its conditioning properties. SURFACTANT or SURFACE ACTIVE AGENT A surfactant is a compound that modifies the tension between two surfaces. It is then able to solubilize two immiscible phases. TOCOPHERYL ACETATE (KERALINE Long-Acting After-Care Shampoo) Tocopheryl acetate is derived from tocopherol, or vitamin E, which explains its antioxidant and restorative power. It is also an excellent moisturizer and conditioner. Vitamin E is also a natural preservative (additive that fights the growth of bacteria). TRITICUM VULGARE (WHEAT) GERM OIL (KERALINE Long-Acting After-Care Shampoo) Vegetable-based wheat germ oil. Emollient agent and rich in vitamin E, this oil softens, smoothes, fortifies and protects hair. VITAMIN E See TOCOPHERYL ACETATE.
